This week is the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW), a series of activities to build a secure energy future for Europe. It brings together public authorities, private companies, NGOs and consumers to promote initiatives to save energy and move towards renewables for clean, secure and efficient power.
The role of engineering firms
The built environment is responsible for 30 to 40% of global CO2 emissions, so there is a huge potential to reduce global emissions in this sector. With our technical design knowledge and experience, we feel it’s our professional responsibility to encourage sustainable solutions. The demand for energy efficient buildings and nearly zero energy buildings is increasing. We try to shift focus from conventional building system solutions to creative – and sometimes innovative -sustainable designs, also when sustainability is not part of the project requirements. These designs always meet or even outperform the clients requirements.
Our stories as inspiration
During this week we will publish a set of articles sharing our vision on sustainability and our – innovative – design solutions that will help to reach the goal of the European Union in 2050, a built environment with nearly zero emissions. We want to inspire clients, students, design partners and competitors with our stories to think greener every day. After all, real change cannot be reached alone. It's phrased very well in the European Sustainable Energy Week’s motto, ‘Building the energy union together’. Click on the logo below for more information.
